A well needed break
Hi all,
As you may have noticed, I have not done any blog post in the last few month. 2017 started with a intense arthritis flare-up which also turn out to be the longest. After 6 months of holding on, it was like my body and my mind broke down and I could not stand back up. I was so depressed I could not go to work any more. Once more I was told my new treatment (biologic injection) was not working for me and I was dealing so poorly with my pain that it started to affect my personal relationship. So as you can imagine, I did not feel like writing much :)
I am much better now. I am currently not taking any medication for my arthritis. I am trying to stay active and nourish my body with healthy food. I avoid anything that could trigger inflammation and got a new passion for very long baths.
This breakdown was also an opportunity to come clear to some people like my work colleagues about what I was suffering from and stop hiding what was really going on with me. I feel a lot lighter since then.
Moreover, I have been to therapy where I could talk as much as I wanted about my chronic pain without bothering anyone! It has been recommended to me by my rheumatologist for years but I always thought I did not need it. I will now definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from chronic illnesses, (well actually to just anyone.)
I received so many messages on Instagram when I shared my struggles, it was overwhelming. It made me realise how many of us are in similar situation but we unfortunately don't always get the same help. This post may be a bit sad but it is a proof that things get better!
I will start posting blog post a lot more regularly from next week. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions you want me to answer.
Keep being strong.
