Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my life living with Psoriatic Arthritis and chronic pain. Hope you have a nice stay!

Back on the wellness track

Back on the wellness track

2016 was supposed to be my year, and well, it just ended up being a massive roller coaster and my world was rocked big time!

A few months ago I was planning to marry the love of my life and being busy working on my awesome project "The wellness lover". I then received a phone call from one of my best friends, she told me she was diagnosed with a sarcoma and had to start chemotherapy in a few weeks. She was also supposed to get married a few months later, but with such a diagnosis her and her fiancée decide to cancel it and instead get married at the town hall. What should have been a moment where I could have maybe shared my knowledge about health, instead it turned out to be weekend after weekend partying while we could.

I was so used to sitting at home watching Game of Thrones and sipping green juice that the situation was a massive change for me. I started getting moody, depressed and constantly arguing with my fiancé. I lost interest in the wedding preparation and wellness was not on the top of my priorities anymore. It ended in many dramas and a cancelled wedding. It wasa moment where I should have read and cared for myself but instead I let loose and went back to old habits.

After 4 months of that lifestyle I took time away to see my family, then went two weeks in Bali eating healthy and practicing yoga. But the heart was not in it. When I came back to Australia reality hit me very hard. I had to reconstruct a life by myself, finding a new home and find out who I was was when I was not someone's other half. I had a flare up of psoriatic arthritis (I am actually surprised it did not happen earlier on) and struggle to start exercising again. I had to take it slowly and transition again from pasta to quinoa!

My last post was in April, it was when all that started and it took me 7 months to hit rock bottom and find my way back up. It is what is good with wellness, when you had a taste of it you always want to go back to it. We are human beings and we are not perfect, no one can have the perfect diet or lifestyle at anytime. What is important is to know how to go back to it and embrace it!
